Privacy Policy for Tube-Dubbing Chrome Extension
Last Updated: June 1, 2026
Thank you for choosing Tube-Dubbing (the "Extension"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the Extension handles information when you use it.
1. Single Purpose of the Extension
The sole purpose of Tube-Dubbing is to automatically translate subtitles and provide high-quality AI voice dubbing directly on YouTube videos to enhance the user's viewing experience.
2. Information Collection and Usage
We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data or browsing history to external servers. All operations are executed locally within your browser.
Specifically, how we handle required browser permissions:
- activeTab & scripting: Used exclusively to insert the translation and dubbing interface controls directly on the active YouTube video tab you are watching.
- storage: Used strictly to save your local preferences (such as your chosen AI model, target language, voice settings, and your personal API keys) on your own device.
- declarativeNetRequest: Used to optimize performance and network communication safely while interacting with the video platform.
- identity: Used locally to manage your authentication or login status securely within the Extension UI.
3. Third-Party Services & API Keys
To use the AI translation features, the Extension interacts with third-party AI service providers (such as Google Gemini API or Edge TTS).
- Your personal API keys are stored securely using the browser's local storage sync.
- Data sent to these APIs consists strictly of the video subtitles/transcripts required for the translation and voiceover generation process.
- We do not have access to your API keys or the data sent to these third-party providers.
4. Data Security
Since all data is stored locally via your browser's secure storage mechanism, your settings and configuration keys are as secure as your personal device and browser configuration. We do not maintain any backend database to harvest or track your inputs.
